Lacrosse is Canada’s National Summer Sport. While it may not be played as universally across the country as hockey (Canada’s National winter sport), there is no difference in the emotional connection that Canadians involved in lacrosse demonstrate. We love it!!
While the indoor game of box lacrosse rules in Canada, the outdoor field game is the international standard, and has grown substantially here over the last 10-15 years.
The Canadian Lacrosse Association oversees 5 National Teams — 4 field and one indoor. A world championship is held by the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) every year for either men or women at either the world cup or U19 level. Every fourth year, like 2011, 2 teams are competing — the women’s U19 team and men’s indoor.
We are the better looking half of the National Teams and have represented Canada on the world scene since 1982 at the very first World Cup held in Nottingham, England. Enjoy reading about the program, the teams, and us.
